When our collaboration commenced, our primary focus was the development of a mobile chatbot prototype designed to assist individuals managing diabetes. However, our client's evolving needs led us to pivot our efforts towards the creation of a web-based platform that better aligned with their requirements and offered enhanced functionality.

So at the beginning the main reason for creating this service was to help people live with diabetes, especially those who faced the diagnosis unexpectedly, necessitating a complete lifestyle overhaul.

It is important to know that diabetes is increasing at an alarming rate in the United States. According to the CDC's (Centers for Disease Control) National Diabetes Statistics Report for 2022, cases of diabetes have risen to an estimated 37.3 million (11.3% of the US population). 48.8% of people aged 65 years or older have prediabetes.

We recognized an invaluable opportunity to leverage our expertise and knowledge in contributing to an exceptional project that could profoundly enhance the lives of millions grappling with chronic diseases.

Having established trust by consistently delivering accurate information and a superior conversational experience, Virtual Assistant garnered the attention of a global insurance company seeking to provide its clients with enhanced care and to increase reaching valuable information. Additionally, our application appeared to be more efficient, cost-effective, and expeditious, compared to a traditional call center support team. So the goals are modified accordingly.

We find the prominent uniqueness and value of the Virtual Assistant in the incredibly elaborate and detailed chain of questions coupled with precise medical recommendations. This approach provides a truly personalized and unique experience for each user.

The challenges that make an app truly unique

Our foremost challenge, and one that is prevalent in the industry, was the constraint of time and budget. While the initial timeline called for a 6-month development cycle, our resourceful team accomplished the core development within a remarkable 3-month period.

Additionally, establishing smooth communication with the infrastructure team (based in the US) and the NLP team (based in China) was another challenging task for all parties. Therefore, Different time zones and sometimes workflow delays could threaten our plans to deliver faster. Still, we successfully managed it by sharing responsibilities and fostering greater autonomy in the development process.

Worth adding as a challenge - was high-volume data processing and integrating machine learning to constant improving of the communication experience. Now there are over 500 thousand users which have thousands of requests daily. Since the application is operating in Healthcare it is vital to be sure that chatbot answers correctly and won’t lead to misunderstanding or deterioration of the user’s health conditions. That’s why the existing text chatbots using generative search were not meeting the requirements and the client decided to develop a unique application that uses a proofed database.
